This is a copy of an email I have just been sent. Please read it as it may be in your area. If you have ever had a pony or horse taken you will be devistated so be vigilant and open your eyes in your vacinity and lets catch these *********** men!
I’m sure a lot of you will have already been contacted in some form or other about this, but it’s important that as many people as possible know what is going on – it could be your horse (heaven forbid), please keep your eyes open and report anything you not sure about.
There have been 3 sightings of 2 suspicious men with eastern European accents photographing local horses.
This could be a steal to order gang. The men have been seen at shows; events and even in horse owners field taking pics.
They have been seen in:
a white VAN Reg N253 XAJ
Red Land Cruiser. B16 RBB
Blue Golf YD51 XUM
Silver people Carrier Irish Plates
More updates of these people photographing horses and acting suspiciously are coming in all the time.
The Police have just phoned us to update us after their investigations into a report of men and the N reg white van and red four wheel drive (land cruiser/land rover has been mentioned) photographing horses in LLanishen yesterday.
The owners gave chase to the vehicle but could not get the registration and unfortunately they got away.
The Police have just told us that yellow arrows have been marked on the road to the horses in Llanishen.
Also, last night Caldicot Police were given reports of a van fitting the description acting suspiciously in the Tintern / St Arvans area.
The chap who had his 2 foals stolen last year is going to see the man in Llanishen today to find out the details of exactly what happened yesterday. I'll let you know of anything else I hear.
The Police have passed it on to intelligence to see if it has any links to a number of horse thefts. They seem to be taking it very seriously around here at least.
Please spread the word.
Police are treating this as suspicious, so please contact them urgently if you see anything.

Just up the road on the way to monmouth I think.
I will have a notice out at the show so as many local people who are there will be able to read it

Yes Tintern is very near Chepstow.
I was at a friends Farm on Thursday when they got a call from another friend, he had spotted 2 men in his fields and gave chase he was on the phone to my friends as he ran, they got into their tractors and headed across the land as he was a short distance from their farm, one had a rabbiting gun and said he wouldn't of hesitated in using it " had he come across a BIG RABBIT " so to speak!!!!!, they didn't catch said 2 men and didn't get a number plate, but it was a white van they drove off in, Rob has since removed his ponies from this land and has taken them home, my lot (9) are kept a short distance from where this happened and I can't take them all home, so we are on tenderhooks all the time, be very aware., oh it has been reported to the police
I live in the Backwell area, just outside Bristol and not far from Weston super mare

this is getting bad, however there have been reports of large amount of horses stolen at one time which have been said to be rubbish, but really dont know what to believe, there have been rumours that the number plates have been cloned so these could change????i hope they get caught very soon, you would think with all this hype they wouldnt get a chance to steal anything.

It should not be us - horse owners - having to tackle these men. What are the police doing?
Sorry but having had a pony stabbed and tack stolen and no one ever being caught for said acts I am not very impressed with the lack of support we horse owners seem to get. I doubt if I will get insured again!

this would be so easy to steal as not every horse box can be stopped as over the weekend there are so many going in to david brooms these people were last seen in caldicot and magor
