is anyone else doing their heads in? Mine is throwing a strop because i dont spend enough time with him. Just because i was away last weeken at the Welsh Show and im out Friday night after work preparing for a show on Saturday.....dispite the fact that ive cut down from riding 3 times a week to once a week the rest of the time to avoid excatley the same argument!!!! If he thinks i'm going to give them up after spending the last 10years with them he has another thing coming Why the hell should i have to stay in just because he has nothing to do with his time apart from play the xbox!!!! God knows i love him to pieces but hes really testing my temper and patience. Sorry but i know most of you know what im on about...& i feel alot better for getting it off my chest

Mine has his moments!!! He works all winter and manages to earn enough to have the summer showing cattle and helping me in the lorry. By the end of September he's driving me mad and i am glad to get him back to work so i can have some peace and quiet!! I did laugh when i took him to the hospital on Tuesday about his injuries from Royal Cornwall. Looks like they have to go in from his hair line and lift the cheek bone back up as it has collapsed. I told him it would be like living with a new man as it'll seem like he's had a face lift!!! He is 18 years older than me but i love him to bits really, we bounce off each other all the time but i wouldnt be without him

I am with Suneagle on this Mo - you have got to get them involved. All my kids partners come to the shows and are involved in horses. We have a great time together, no rows nothing. Reece's partner Gary has girls that ride with Karen and Nick will now be at shows looking after baby Faye [if he can prize her away from Tracey]. Justin as you all know is marrying icklebex next year and stewards all over the place and Richard runs SWPA with me.
Bring him to the SWPA shows and we will get him stewarding!

its Meg by the way Med- Should really split profiles to stop the mix up!!!
I am tempting him into that. He said he'll maybe help putting up jumps in the Working hunter ring but not much else as he is PETRIFIED of horses, He did however say if I get a horsebox he will drive it for me

There you are then - you are half way there. Now tell him how friendly we all are and what a great time the Champs are and you are way - problem solved!
Working hunter ring - no problem!

Oh god, boy do I know what you're on about. My OH is a real city dweller and absolutely petrified of horses. I think he's probably seen my horse about 3 times in the 5 years I've had him and wouldn't be able to pick him out in a field full of bays It really does cause grief between us in the summer when I want to go off showing all the time. Winter's not such a problem because he's into football so when he goes off to London for the day watching his team then I get a day with my pony to do what I like anyway. We tend to sit down and discuss which shows I would LIKE to do, he tells me I'm being unreasonable wanting to be away every weekend of the summer and then we work out which shows I will ACTUALLY do. It's really hard and I do miss lots of things I would like to do but then I do also get to do lots of them as well. I suppose it's called compromise. It is really hard sometimes tho .... especially when my friends with horsey OHs just seem to be able to do anything they want whenever they want without having to consider their OH.

Have you considered two - one for weekdays and one for (horsey) weekends?

Barry hated it once but has now been becoming a horsey one thank goodness makes it so easier and now I have been ill he has been a real wonder and looks after the two we have here every day and takes me to all the shows and puts up with my little shetland which he always said he wanted nothing within when I got him as well. God knows what I would cope if he did not want to join in with the ponies. XXX for Barry and for the Newmans as well for all the help. Vanessa

I'm quite happy with my OH not being at many of the shows, (maybe 2 a year) I never seem to as organised when he's there, I have my way of doing things. Don't get me wrong. I love him to bits but................LOL and there is no way he's driving my lorry!!!!

When I met my OH he hadn't a clue about anything to do with horses/ponies, he just used to leave it up to me. I had mine on a Farm, so I used to go have a ride and he would then walk across the fields with the babies and puppy and meet up with me, but as soon as he arrived after 10 minutes he couldn't understand why everything " took so long to do ", and this was how he went along until we bought a place with our own land, then he got more involved and then KNEW " why it took so long as he said it ", his favorite saying is now " I know nothing about horses/ponies I am only here to pick up pooh, build and maintain things" hahhaha, tis very true, but........he loves them really, and I have caught him many a time talking and kissing them all, we have 9 now hahahhaaa. What I do is, because we are on a different place now, put the idea's into his head and let him mull over them, and be ever so thankful when he decides that we need a new barn etc and help him out building it hahahhaha, all a mind game really. He has started coming to a few shows, at first he couldnt make head nor tail of what was going on, but now, not that he would admit it, is beginning to enjoy them, and I am really grateful to him as I couldnt have so many without all his help, so Thanks Phil , oops I have waffled on, back to the rant, my guess is if they dont want to be involved they wont, but LADIES PLLEEAASSEE, God gave us womanly wyles.....USE THEM ;D ;D
