I would really like to get rid of my pony's clip in time for the Festival ?
However, it's so warm at the moment that I presume he will just wither and die with heat exhaustion if I were to leave a rug on him.
Any suggestions ? He's living out 24 / 7 at the mo.

i used to have trouble getting freddies winter coat out, but i went to a saddlery and got chatting away abd the bloke said try a shedding blade (only £2.50), so went home and used it and LOADS of hair came out.... i did it atleast twice a day.
is he ruged at night, thing is its still getting cold at night and they seem to be holding their coats because of it. so maybe either put a slightly thicker or put a thin one on if is out nakied.

Thanks Suneagle, I'll give the shedding blade a go. I have actually got one and completely forgot about it - numpty !!!
I have also gone back to rugging him up at night as well as he was out naked.
Fingers crossed this all works otherwise there's only one thing left for it ..... the Dyson ;D

Seriously if you get a 50p or a 2p and scrape at the clip lines it works - we used it on our section d mare when she used to get clipped as she could hang onto clip lines till mid summer - try it worked for us

We discovered it by accident when barry decided to experiment and started scraping at the clip lines with a 50p as he was fed up with the stickle block and it worked - don't have that problem anymore as we don't clip her just rug her up well so the winter coat is not as bad and she does not do much work in winter anyway.

I gave him a good scrub last night with about 4 different grooming "objects" and his coat is definately coming out .... although I'm not optimistic that I'll get rid of it all by next Saturday The problem I have is that his winter coat has quite a lot of black hairs in it but his summer coat is a lovely even light dun colour so, as he has a blanket clip, the difference in coats is REALLY obvious. Think I'll go to the bank lunchtime and get a fiver's worth of 50p and hand one out to everyone on the yard to get to work on him ;D
