I haven't ridden since I was pregnant with my now 15 year old, as I put too much weight on, but have really missed it.
Just before the summer show this year I decided the only thing stopping me riding was me, so I started a diet the weekend of the show and promised myself that when I lost 50 pounds I would have a riding lesson as a treat, not really thinking it would happen.
Well................ 13 weeks on, I have lost 46 of the 50 pounds and just booked a lesson for 2 weeks today! Oh my god, I am really scared now and have got to try and spend the next two weeks not backing out!!

I have nothing but admiration for this lady - I cannot loose the couple of stone I want to get rid off yet Maxine has lost twice that already and it shows! She looks fab!

Well, getting closer! Been out and spent my birthday money from hubby on hat, boots, whip and gloves (world is not ready for me in jods yet!). Bumped into riding teacher and asked her if she was sure she had a horse big enough and steady enough for me and she told me to stop being a wuss and have some faith in myself! Just had my weekly weigh in and ................................(drum roll) have lost 50lbs exactly ;D I am really pleased, but now there is no excuse for not going because I have hit my riding lesson target Three days to go!

Been and done it and I survived!!!!!!!! Went and bought sports bra yesterday, just in case I couldn't do a rising trot and bobbed around! Got there and the riding school had been very considerate, everyone there to greet me and give me encouragement. They put me on a Haflinger that I was told was strong, forward going but safe - and he was all three! I managed to walk, trot (rising and sitting) and canter and ride without stirrups, although none of them with any real style!! I had a bit of trouble with him cutting corners but I managed to stay on and keep up with everybody else, although only five minutes into the hour lesson I was breathing like I'd run a marathon and my face was beetroot! I dismounted like a sack of spuds and am now walking like a cowboy, I hurt in strange places, but I had a great time and can't wait for my next lesson. With a bit of luck it will have lost me another pound or two as well
