was just reading on hg about puk im put off already!! Don't be put off by what you read on HG! West Midlands is the first of their shows and is very popular for HOYS quals! The difference with PUK HOYS is that you're almost always asked to perform a 'different' show to the norm! We did the South Show HOYS last year which included three-loop Canter Serpentines and at the Champs we had to include a whole circle of canter, halt in the middle of the show and a longer extension which caught a lot of ponies out! I think they call it more of a 'style and performance' show! Hope that info is of some help to you and WELL DONE for your Stallion Grading

Congratulations on the grading.
I think the thread on HG is referring to the PUK champs which have somewhat caused some controversy over the years. You still get a very high standard of horses/ponies there but it is the way the society treats its members that is under scrutiny, not the regional shows like the one at Malvern. Must admit having tried the PUK experience once at Towerlands i am in no hurry to repeat it-but we all have our own opinion. I do believe though that Equifest will grow in popularity and will become the place to go.

We love to meet all our friends up at PUK and have enjoyed it for many years but unfortunately they do now seem to have the 'we need them more than they need us' attitude and it is a shame the way they can treat members. We did the Summers and Winters last year and I thought things were improving but maybe not! They really should sit back and look at how to improve things because they will be losing more competitors this year at the Champs and unfortunately some of our good friends are off to Equifest this year and we are pondering over what to do! What I will say though is that their other shows are well supported especially those with HOYS quals and a great number of people still come up to the Champs on HOYS days! One thing I have noticed is that shows with PUK quals in the South West have become thinner on the ground and when I spoke to them about it, they didn't seem too concerned! Good luck to everyone at West Mids; see you at PUK South!
