Hi everyone, I'm from south Wales & am the proud owner of a 35yr old Tb mare called Nellie. Yes, 35 ;D She was my 15th birthday present from my grandfather *ahem* 20 years ago We nearly lost her early last year with a twisted gut, but against the odds & thanks to how many ml of buscopan (her wonder drug) she pulled through, then, when out recuperating, the yard owner decided that she ought to go out with the main herd of mares so turned her out with them. 4 hours later, Nel hobbled back in with all 4 legs blown up like an elephant. even after a week she had not come sound, so off we went for xrays which showed a broken stifle & bony changes in her fetlocks. Nobody ever thought for a minute that she would ever come sound again. But she astounded the vet once again by coming back sound & he gave the go ahead for her to come back into ridden work again last November This is us at the only show we've managed to get to this year. On the left of the picture you can see a x-country jump. Nel had locked onto that & was making a beeline for it - hence the head up & bouncing towards it ;D apart from it was a veteran class and she was SUPPOSED to be behaving herself I wouldnt want her any other way though

Hi Nellie and welcome Gosh, your girly certainly doesn't look her age which is a MAJOR credit to you. Would be great to see you at the show this weekend as Tiggy01 says. Where in South Wales are you ? I live in Newport with my boy being kept at livery in Rhiwderin.

Hi everyone, I live in Caerleon & Nel is fairly close by. All being well, we'll be at the swpa show at Broomes on Friday. Shows around here this year have been dreadful - pretty much everything has been canceled due to the rain. Still, If you have a look for the bay mare doing wall of death during the canter in the ridden veterans - that'll be us I'll look out for you on friday - with the duns, you should be fairly easy to spot!

Well, I'm back from a cracking day at the show. I was AMAZED at how well it is run. It makes a refreshing change to see a show where everybody knows their job...including the organisers.
A bit clap to al, it must have taken some organisation!
