Twts had ripped open her front legs. We went down the smorning to check on the ponies and there Twts was standing in the corner resting her back leg. I went over and checked her and she had ripped her front legs open. There was only 1 main serious cut which was on her fetlock and may have gone into the joint so the next 24hrs are important to see wether she may need refered or not. She is now on box rest. I think there was 6 cuts stitched up even on below her eye. The vet took 2 hours to finish the job! I hope she will be ok! Poor Twts! The vet is coming out tommorrow again to redress it. After the vet had finished!

Just hope you find the cause of the problem. She is going to be really stiff and sore for many days to come, but am sure she will strong and get through , as she is young. Poor girly. xxx

At the time the photo was taking she was coming round from sedation. We have sussed out what has happened. A house backing onto the field has a small barbed wire fence up, and obviously they have been feeding Twts and she has thought nothing off climbing over it to say hello and gotten stuck. She is on a course of anti-biotics. She is walking on both legs now quiet happily, shes a bit stiff and hasnt gotten herself totally worked up or anything.
Vanessa, we managed to take most of they hay out of the big shetler (have left hay on either side of the shed so she doesnt not damage herself if she goes down.
Poor girl was not allowed to eat for atleast four hours and vet said it was best to leave aslong as possible (was sedated at 11am and i let her have a wee bit of hay at 6). She seems pretty content at the moment munching away at her hay and neighing her head off for more attention.
The vet has just phoned, the lady who done her yesterday is coming as well as the head of practice. Fingers crossed the fetlock one has not went into the joint or she will need refered to the thingy vet in edinburgh.
RE: the foal, there is a chance she could loos it due to the sedation, but it was either that or not sedate her and loss Twts. She's a little fighter though.

Update:
The vets came and asked me to lead her out as she looked to be walking fine. Well as fine as could be expected. Shes very sore and stiff but not overly lame. She had her bandages taken off and checked. Twts decided to show everyone she could stand on her back legs and barge people out of the way. Poor lamb did not want vets poking at her legs. She was very brave though and stood aslong as she could not see what they were doing and with a bit of bribery with polos ::-) i then walked her about again and she still did not seem lame much. Her fetlock was swollen a bit. But the vets both seemed resonably happy with her, she had to be twitched her to have her legs re-dressed as she was a bit fed up by this point and just wanted to get back to her hay.
She was fine again the last time i checked her (about 8) and was being impatient and getting cross at me because i wanted to muck her out before she got her tea. I then went to empty the whellbarrow but she decided she was going to stomp around the stable and do her headshaking think when shes cross and decided she was going to try to do a mini rear so i would feed her quicker lol Im totally rambling on now. Im going to check her again soon and then will check her again before bed.
