i had my farrier out today and he found a little hole on the sole of my filly's foot from where an absess had been. i felt awful as i hadnt noticed anything untoward with her, ie she wasnt lame, and i didnt see anything there when i picked out her feet. he said that she should be fine and only to poultice it if she became lame. is it best left uncovered to let the air get at it or would u poultice it anyway as i'm worried about it becoming infected?

If it has already burst and come out then i would say not to poultice as you want it to dry up and so let the air get to it. Just make sure it is kept reatinely clean. Mum's pony has just had an abcess but once burst it is healing really well. Good luck with the healing.

awww bless her little heart i know how you feel when i first got freddie he puncherd his foot and wasnt till the puss was hard that he went lame...
yeah dont poultice it as it will keep it wet and not let it dry out. with this spell of cold dry weather and the feilds finally drying out she will be fine.

Syringe some diluted Hibiscrub into it daily. Buy Hibiscrub from chemist, cheaper than vets!
