we sold a lurcher pup last year.all our pups are sold with the option that we will have them back to rehome if they cannot look after them they are all now microchipped and i keep my name on the computer records. the new owner never changed the ownership with the microchip company (b****y good job). i had a phone message from a vet on sunday to say she had been brought in to them with a bad leg.someone had heard her whine from a hedge and had taken her to the vet. (thank god for kind animal lovers) i rang the vet and was told she had broken her leg in 3 places and either needed a metal plate put in or her leg amputated. i told them that i had sold her and they said they would ring up a charity and get them to pay for the op and get her rehomed.or put her to sleep the operation will be £500. i said i wouldnt let this happen and i would have her back after the operation.as i had bred her and she was too nice a dog to let this happen as she was 1 of a litter of 12 we had hand reared as the mum was really ill (vet bill £1500). the vet said that they will let me pay for the operation in instalments. i am really mad at the people who were supposed to be dog lovers all they had to do was ring me. the vet said she had broken her leg a few days earlier than when she was found.

makes me angry, why do they have an animal if they are not prepared to give it love and care for it unquestionably, makes me sad for all the unloved ones out there thank goodness for you though, a big pat on the back is called for ;D ;D

vet cannot do anything as there is no paperwork to say they owned the dog.and i kept my name on th id chip paperwork. picked her up today. she is very sore and bruised and swollen. but considering she had the op on tuesday am she is very good on 3 legs. she sometimes forgets and lies down the wrong way and cant get up as she has no leg to push up with.she justs lies there and gives a help me look and lets you get her up. the next 48hrs are when the swelling may cause the wound problems and then if she gets through that she has a check up on day ten and gets stitchs out hopefully.. her mum and sister recognise her but she is protective of her wound and they cant work out what is different about her.

That's so sad, but at least you tried. My dog broke his leg last year and had to be pinned - it is a dreadful operation and puts such a strain on their bodies. We were lucky that he came through it well, but there were times when we thought we would have to also put him out of his misery.
This morning my daughters told me a dog was running backwards and forwards across the road out side our house. It is a main route into town and very busy and he was young and had no road sense. They took a lead and caught him - he was in great condition but very scared and came willingly. Took him to the RSPCA who said they thought he was a regular visitor! They scanned him, found a microchip and phoned the owner, who lived onthe same main road as us. She came to collect him and said what a stupid dog he was as he was always escaping - the RSPCA inspector was not impressed and told her it was her responsibility to make sure he didn't. With that she opened the door of the RSPCA (again on the same road) and let him out without a lead! My daughters caught him again and the inspector told her the least she could do was to thank them. With that she handed my girls £20, which they were thrilled with obviously, but I wish I had just kept the dog because I have the feeling he is not going to live very long if he stays with her.

i had the option of her leg being pinned but her fracture was in 3 places and they said it may not work so we thought it better to get her leg amputated.right or wrong ill never know and ill just have to live with that desision

at least you gave her a chance and took responsibility of her which is more than the original owner did. she will be much happier with no more pain. RIP brave girl
