we rescue ponies and we get several with sweet itch. i feed them garlic and cider vinegar as these help to clear and to cool the blood. we also did a trial for neem oil and i found it the best thing for sweet itch ive ever tried.it is also a fantastic fly repellent amongst other benefits. product range is "stop it all" . our supplier is karen ruggles info@karenruggles.co.uk www.karenruggles.co.uk if you say i gave the details please so she knows where people are finding out about it.

Hi a lady has made her own solution up sweet itch, we have tried and it seems to be really good, it consists of a shampoo then an oil afterwards, she has her own website and its called stop it all, other than that i have always found the rambo sweetitch hoody the best of them all.

You can't buy benzol benzoate at the chemist any longer, I think it is a Europe banned substance kind of thing! Killitch, which is Carr & Day & Martin is the only sweetitch remedy I know of which contains benzol, the product works very well. The otherone I use is Nettex Itch Stop Salve Complete - excellent, and very gunky so you don't have to apply it every day. It's great on horses which aren't ridden, ie retired, brood mares, as you can't ride with it on the neck - you get covered in it. Last summer I fed Think Fly all season, and whilst it didn't stop the sweetitch, we had far less flies on the horses, you could see them veer away without landing which was great. At the moment I'm trialling Global Herbs Skratch, smells gorgeous, only been using it three days though.

my friend has a pure arab who has extreemly bad sweet itch when she came to her 8 years ago she was bold and bleeding! so she has tried for years and years every lotion and postion out spending ALOT of money and the only thing that works is a boet rug!. now her mane is nearly at her knees and her tail is down to the ground.

i have heard great things about the neem oil so have added to my home brew of fly spray. i also add 6c of sulphur twice a day to feeds for 2 weeks and then increase to 2 tablets of 30c twice a day. so far so good!

the neem oil "stop it all "range is fantastic for loads of things from sweet itch/fly repellent to hair growth. it is one trial that really did show what a great product can do.
