Done - I will sign anything that allows me to go back to having New Years eve out with my friends again [something I have not done since 2000 when fireworks crept into that celebration too! ] The past two weeks we have had to do late night checks everynight as the fireworks started two weeks ago and will go on all next week too! Lets just make it Nov 5 then everyone knows it is going to happen and let that be an end to this loud and frightening experience for ALL animals, and lets ban it at midnight on New Years Eve. Sorry for being an old moaner, but fireworks were never so loud years ago and no one thinks of the misery it causes animals any more.

Done
It wasnt so much my horses this year, they were a little tense, but my dog. Bless him he goes absolutely crazy, scratched the wooden skirting boards and the door. We lost him last new years after he ran off, obviously ran in a blind panic as we eventually found him miles away, over many roads and a railway line.

Sadly a horse here in North Devon (Woodtown) lost its life due to fireworks on 2nd November when he went mad in his field and ended up being destroyed due to breaking a shoulder. The owner had visited everyone she thought may have fireworks as she was going to be away overnight but did not visit the house that had the party - so sad and why do the police not prosecute people letting them off except on the designated allowed dates - it has not changed a thing around our way they still go off throughout the whole year. Also signed it.

Had fireworks here last night [Nov 16]. They use the beach which is a public place and the police to nothing to protect the general public walking along the top of the beach which is the only public footpath!
I have watched horses galloping around in blind panic as fireworks go off. It is frightening and I dread bired wire fencing in these instances. How dreadful to loose your horse that way. Would the owner not have a claim for compensation against the people who caused the death? Maybe the practice of setting off fireworks at any time might stop if people though they could be sued for damage caused. I know if someone causes a reduction in value due to loss of a specific use [e.g. traffic accident causes a horse to no longer be traffic proof] then they are liable to pay compensation, and I think a few tractor drivers have been sued under those conditions!

i have signed too i have been very lucky as my lot are not fazed by fireworks at all which i am pleased about and takes a huge worry off my shoulders, its not just the fireworks that make me angry its the way some are used, it has been known for cats around here to be tied to a firework by the tail and yes as you can imagine the outcome is horrendous and disgusting, we only had quite fireworks this yr as too many animals and pets around but i wish others where as considerate.
