Im "cornets lass" for my local town. We have a local riding of the marches each year and it has went on for hundreds of years! Im so honoured to be voted as this years lass ;D Anyways i have my sashing tonight, where i get "sashed" and given my sash and things as well as having to give a speech, give out raffle prizes and awards and stuff Just had my hair done and it looks horrible Ven, will send you pic later if you want?

In scotland, its an old tradition we have. Most local towns have common ridings Will get pictures when we do our rdiing parts I get to wear a red hunting jacket ;D www.annan.org.uk/rom/

Oh - thanks for that piece of information - very interesting. Hubby No 1 was in the Queens Own Highlanders Military Band and I loved the Pipes and Drums although he played the trombone. I had a guard of honour with the QOH and The Black Watch at my wedding.

Yes but I had the Black Watch guard of honour when they were popstars with "Scotch on the Rocks". Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders never made a No 1 hit! Hubby No 1 was always "miffed" that I could wear more tartans than he, and me with an English accent [just my bloodlines being rooted in Scottish heritage!] ;D
