Hi, does any of you use any suppliments for your moody mares? If so, what works best? We have a lovely sec a CHESTNUT mare and she has just come into season and she is like a stroppy teenager!

Equine America do one, a bit more expensive but i hear it does work. In fact most companies do supplements for 'Moody Mares', it may be just trial and error. Try also 'Global Herbs' (more realistic on price!) or NAF.

We had a black mare like that and got her checked over by the vet first and she was given Regumate (I think that's how it's spelt) She was a different mare after they sorted her out.

regumate is good but it is a strong drug. studs often use it on stroppy mares. we have used the following and they work.
you may have to try each for a month ish and if it doesnt work try another one as some work better on some horses and not others.
hilton herbs do 4 supplements equilibrium equilibrium vf equilibrium gold equilibrium vf gold (vf stands for valerian free)
indian herbs equine frisky mare
global herbs frisky mare plus can be uswed with supercalm and/or magcalm hope this helps. hormonal mares can be hell to manage they can be like jekl and hyde when in and out of season.

my friend has just had her mare scanned as she is moody her first and last season this has happened for two years now and she has now been told that she is producing to many eggs and has put her on regumate for 12 days to get her on a regular cycle as she is producing to much estrogen which makes her crabby but because she is 100% in the summer my friend wanted to be checked by a vet so it might be worth you asking your vet for advice
