having read post in novices i thought id comment. in many novice class's especially leadrein and first ridden at small shows i see more and more ponies in strong bits including so called snaffles with gag action. whether this is correct or not im unsure who is to blame? the ponies rider/producer trying to show a pony that is too strong for the rider? the judge for still placing ponies shown in strong bits?
i have also seen judges in leadrein class's place ponies where the leadrein is attached to the bit and not to the noseband even if it states this in the schedule? if people who go against the rules are still get placed in the top 6 they are still going to do it and therefore be at a unfair advantage to competitors who go with the rules.
