When should you stop clipping your horse so it gets a nice summer coat? I clipped a pony years ago too late (cant rember how late ) Its coat never looked good until late summer/ Autumn

All ponies start to shed their coats in line with the lengthening days. So after 21 Dec when the days get longer they begin to throw their summer coat so no clipping after 1 Jan is the old wives tale!
Same works for the other end of the year - if you want to keep a good summer coat longer then turn the light on in their stable after July nights begin to get shorter - and rug obviously!
