I am going to join my 19yr old Show hunter pony 'Dragonsfir Raphsody' as he keeps himself in such good condition and doesn't really do that much at shows. BUT when we go to shows he starts acting like a 3 year old and trots around with his tail over his back. anyway should be fun !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! xx

We have got Samber Sarson back with us who was Stephanies little Shetland stallion that she rode when she was 9 [she is 23 now!]. He has been gelded now and is coming back for the veterans with Danielle Balsdon riding him. C U in the ring!

my nine year old little girl has two 138 ja jumping ponies that are very hot , he one pony is 27 and the other 18,she asked me if she could compete in the vhs shows i joined her,she done so well to win both in hand and ridden with the both of them as once you take off the martingales bits etc you dont have full control, the JUDGE asked her if she was a vhs member she said i dont know ,whem she came out the ring she said to me the judge was asking my letters i dont know what she was talking about i said dont worry you have quailfied for the reg finals , when she entered the ring for the second time i said make sure you show the judge the card, after the judge came over and said to me your daughter isnt quallified on th e grey i said yes she won the class, she said i asked her if she was avhs member and she didnt know,i then said oh thats what you said to her sahe didnt understand what you said i then said if you had asked if you were a member of the veteran horse society she would have knew she REPILED too late shes not qualifiedTHIS WAS THE TOP SHOW LADY i was discusted i said my daughter who was a shy little 9 yr old rode her heart out amoung adults she was the only child in the class and because she didnt understand vhs,you wont sign her card THATS RIGHT she said ,the judge saw both her cards and refused to sign HENCE we didnt goto the finals with the one pony and i would never ever deal with them again ,my daughters instructer was so angry and my daughter left very upset and wondered why she botherd ,after joining the swpa the judges has showed my daughter that they are child friendly and a happy bunch and she has enjoyed the show she has done with you and look forward to coming again

yeah i got the feeling when i 1st joined vhs when freddie was 15! i was so proud as i knew he would do well, and the judges through it back in my face says hes lovely and well condistioned and would do well at the champs but they kept saying but hes an arab and ages gracefully and like your daughter i was very shy, last year 1 very b***hy vhs member i got placed above her in the overall vetreian class, mouthed off saying how can you judge a 22yr old against a 17yr old, ive had to nurse my horse through ripped tendons BLAH BLAH BLAH! i was getting very annoyed with her so i replyed "well done you, but 6yrs ago my horse got grass sickness poisioning and was nearly dead...." she soon shut up! and im so glad the SWPA members are not like that but i am only doing vhs with 1 goal in mind getting to the top! if the members are like her i dont want to talk to anyone and just concentrate on competeing rather that makeing friends.

Barry did the veteren horse in hand at bicton with Orchid and as he went into the ring was asked if he was a member - he said no not yet but we may join - 2 in class orchid excellent condition and no mobility problems - other horse lame and not carrying hardly any condition - guess who won - suspect you do need to be a member for this to do well - tiggy is eligible next year for ridden however have not yet worked out how to tell her she cannot gallop in her show LOL 0 points for us I suspect.

GRRRrrrrr! just been looking on the vhs website theres only two quilifiers down here 1 is the welsh pony and cob show which freddie is an arab so cant do that and the other is chard on the 12th july which is the arab show at bicton so cant go to that one either.
i was hopeing to try for olympia but it looks likes theres no chance of it as the other quilifiers are WAY up north peterbrough is the closest i could find! shocking aint it.

Hi, only 2 qualifiers in south Wales. Don't like the sound of the VHS! Evei 17, does that mean she won't be looked at? I thought there were seperate classes for 15-19yrs?

they have different sections for different age groups and they judge on a point system inc manners walk trot and in ridden canter(they donot allow galloping) and any advanced movements in individual show are not counted. there is a qualifier at frome show in wiltshire in september. we found it a very level judging system for competing and as a spectator.
