Has anyone tried this bit?
Its been recommened to use on my cob but to me its looks like a hell of alot of metal to put in his mouth. Just wandering what other peoples opinions are on it and what their horses rode like in it

Used a lot on show cobs and hunters. Good bit if you have light hands and if they go in the correct outline anyway. Swop Marsh for Harsh if used incorrectly

A lot of people use it, Jerram, tatlow, walker, Russell. Seems to be popular but Chambers used to use one on Mrs B, I hunted her in it but too much of a tug and you end up stopped!

I have known some M&M Welsh D's to be ridden in it and yes light hands are recommended as it is a harsh bit, but some horses respect it and go much better and lighter [sometimes I think because the rider also has the confidence to know they can stop!]

I agree, this bit must be used correctly, not really suitable for children as with the 'swales'. To many people they think it's 'a quick fix' when correct riding and training should come first. I personally would'nt view a pony if one of these bit's was in use! I'd like to think a lot of judges would take it in to consideration when worn by kiddies ponies. Going back, as for use on a cob or hunter , then yes, maybe, in the right hands!
