We have a connie who is currently recovering from a damaged back (he has a crushed sacram). He is going back up to willesly on wednesday to have more x-rays to see if it has heeled. I hacked him out the other day (not really supposed to but he is extremly bored and just went down the road walk, trot and about 2 strides of canter) and he was really well behaved. If his x-rays come back and it has heeled we would like to take him to the Good Friday show at poltimore. Just to do a novice ridden or combination. He will not be ready to show properly until 2008 or this winter - as he has not filled out yet. But all I want to do is show and my SHP was sold yesterday (well my mums said they can have him on loan for 2 weeks before they decide ) so we were going to take him down just for a little bit of expirience so he could have a little look and see what his reaction is . There is one problem though - he has to be clipped for the x-rays and ultrasound so is left with a stripe down his spine and a triangle on his bum missing, this does not affect him or cause him any discomfort but would you show him like this? does anyone know what the judge whos judging the class is like + would she mind him being in there? or would it be better to ask if we could go HC and explain his situation? or just take him to see what it is like? could it upset some people seeing him like this? sorry for such a long post. will try to get some pictures on wednesday.

We took him up to willesley today and it has mended ( ) vet doesnt know why it did - he was very surprised and said that as he put on condition it must have pushed it back into place (he wasnt very optimistic last time and said he'd probly have to be a companion but know he says he can show, wh etc!). decided not to take him to poltimore though, he wont be ready (but we will probly go down ponyless anyway!).

I am really pleased that your pony is fine. I would have a quick word with the judge for you if you wanted to give him an outing, but if you just want to come to the show and would like to be involved in some way - why not try your hand at stewarding? Someone will support you to start with. I don't know Jane Fisher - but most judges are quite amicable if you explain a situation to them.

awww thankyou! we were going to take him but he has to walk for a month then pessoa training for another month before we can even start schooling him, so thats this season gone already, might take him out for a couple of unaff shows, but were going to aim for your summer champs as his first affiliated show!
do you have a min age for stewards? i know my brother did a bit of helping at your summer show (giving out water and things) and am pretty sure he would like to if you need someone to do a few classes.

Justin Broad is taking over as managing stewards so I will pass on your details to him if you like. Send me an email with your contacts and I will add you to the database. My daughter Charise has just had her knee operated and cannot ride until June. She is so frustrated and the season has not started, but she can judge so getting involved will keep her occupied. You can steward now and build up for some free entry classes when your pony is able to compete again [stewards cards]
