We have a yearling filly who is 3/4 Welsh D and 1/4 appaloosa, essentially she looks like a Section D with spots! She has a bit a of feather like a Sec D, and a full tail and double mane (and a hairyish chin!) When she's a grown up, she will be my happy hacker, and will remain untrimmed, but we feel we should take her to a few shows as a youngster (we may regret this, she is a live wire!) and aren't sure what to do regarding trimming. I've attached a pic and would welcome any help!

I cannot see the picture at work - some reason our IT dept blocks them, but if you are showing her as a part bred then she needs feathers off and plaited. The will grow again if you want them back as a happy hacker. As a yearling you should plait the tail, but 2/3 yrs you can "pull" it [whatever way you do it]

What an attractive pony you must be very pleased with her. Plaited and trimmed for part-bred classes. Is this by Cherrytop's Mattie?

At home and seen the picture now. Plaited and trimmed definately and she will do well as a yearling. You can show her plaited in the coloured class too.

Oh hell, not been on here for ages and now you've all said trimmed and plaited! I've never plaited a mane, or pulled one in my life (we have a trad and a hogged cob!). I fear that Ellie will never get to a show then, if we've got to tart her up! Just going to put a 'summer' pic of her in the photo gallery as another update!
