from what i remember it is odd up the mane to make it even with the forlock so it is either 11 0r 13 up the mane depending on how thick the main is as to the brow band it depends on what classes you are going to do i think ie hunters should be plain but riding horse can have coloured i think it was along time ago since i showed a non native. im used to showing a new forest and we go plain

Plaiting depends on what your horses neck is like, for example, if it has a short thick neck you would put more smaller plaits in, this gives the impression of a good length of neck, and if the neck is long and thin then you put fewer bigger plaits in, this gives a better topline impession, echo gemini Re Browbands!

Hi, reference browband - try and match the colours of the browband to the colour of either shirt/tie and jacket e.g i wear a light blue shirt and light blue & white tie and my horse has a blue light blue and white browband. Less is more as far as bling goes, of course that's a personnel opinion. As far as i can remember riding horse, hack and coloured horses all wear coloured browbands, hunters, cobs & m&m's plain. Hope that helps.

we were told by a top producer that the more white on the horses face the less white on the browband and vis versa. get a colour to match/enhance the horses colour other than the white.

echo gemini for brownbands for coloureds . You would turn her out as if she were a non coloured type, so hunter type would be plain browband, riding type - coloured browband ect Piccies always good so people can point you in the right direction re number/size/position of plaits (I cant help you on that one, as you can see I dont do plaits)

Plait numbers dont really matter. If you horse has a shot big neck lots of small plaits will be better (not tones tho) about 18 goes on my coloureds neck as she has a hugh neck which is quite short and if she has a long neck bigger plaits like about 10 - 12 (odd or even doesnt matter). For coloureds the best thing is to use a plain browband the frilly pretty one are really hard to get hold of for coloureds only buy one if your horse is really fine show pony like. If so the best colour is a pink/redish with gold for piebalds and for skwebalds dark blue with light blue as red will clash. For Browbands this is the cheepest with HOYS quality browbands ( i will be getting one for my young show hack in a couple of weeks if the cheepest ive seen anyway) www.supremebrowbands.co.ukhope it helps Jess xx
