Can anyone out there tell me if it matters at this level (local shows, SWPA, NPS qualifying rounds - NOT HOYS Qualifiers!) what kind of girth we have. I mean, does it have to be a leather girth? Just doing novice and Junior M&M. Is there something that is just 'not acceptable'?

Traditionally it used to be a leather girth, but nowadays people choose a fabric one that is a similar colour to the horse/pony. You dont want to cut the pony into two with a contrasting colour that draws the eye to the girth not the pony!
