Thought I would pop this post on as I know a few you have veterans as well. I don't understand how some of the shows are qualifiers for the regionals when they are mixed age classes. F.ex. Mid Somerset show, Dorchester show and Frome show are all over the place with their age group, MS is 15-24 and then 25 and over, Frome is just over 15, and apprarently the 2 highest placed members qualify. How is that even possible? I have emailed Clare Frost to see if she can shed some light. What, with the breed socieities holding their own, closed qualifiers and the other shows doing as they please to the age groups, it it going to be possible to qualify at all any more? ??

Must admit we were pretty confused at the Shetland performance weekend where they had qualifiers!

I'm confused now! We were lucky enough to qualify on sat at Bridgend County but they were split in ages. The one in towy valley wasn't split. Surely the judge checked the ages and handed the qualifiers as per age, 1st in 15-19, 1st in 20-24 etc???

At Frome show, there are 2 qualification cards for each of the pre-veteran, veteran and veteran plus catagories, to be given to the highest placed members. But that still seems like complete gobbeldigook to me. I can see it turning into complete caos with members and non-members, and trying to get into the right age group, and people being placed last in the class but still qualifying? I am hoping to go if my boy comes sound by then, so will let you all know how excsactely that one pans out!

yes, they do allow non members to compete, but, you have to be a member to qualify, so in theory yes you could be last and qualify or does it only get passed to third??? Thankfully we were 1st so no prob there.

Have spoken to Clare Frost and - though it dosen't say in the schedule- they are placing EVERYONE and handing out 2 qualifyer cards in each age group. Apparently all the shows that have done it like that so far this year are seperating the classes next year - obviously causing a lot of work!!!
