What would you put on a yearling that has got a soft lump on her knee. I think she did it on the water trough. She did it the day before the swpa trinity show so I put cool ice on it. I think that is the name of it, it is a blue jel that you mix with water. That cure it but she was lame this morning and the lump is back. She was sound coming in last night so after zooming round the field yesterday cos took friend away to be ridden might have annoyed it. She wasn't lame the first time. Anyone any remedies

we always put a old fashioned kaolin poultice on any lumps/swellings our ponies get. we get tubs of the powder from the chemist(really cheap) and mix it with water to a consistancy depending on where you want to use it. either just put a thick layer on 1 or 2 times a day or if in a bandageable place we bandage it for 24hrs. hope the knee gets better. we use it on ourselves as well.

Thanks equinim. Just pm'd you. I had forgotton about kaolin. So many years since I have had to do anything medical. I will try it, she's still a bit nervous but see how we get on.

On a baby I would get your vet out to make sure she has done no damage to the bones!

How about Arnica and aloe vera gel, it should bring out the bruising and inable it to heal quickly, providing all medical checks have been done first.
