My part bred arab is always getting little bumps/rashes. She get's them if I put a rug on her I haven't used for a while, if she goes out with no fly rug, if she doesn't like the shampoo, if she's been in the stinging nettles, if she has too much protein. Usually go down in a couple of days, only had to get the vet out once and that time they started weeping. All it was from was a stable rug which I hadn't used for a while must have got a bit damp. Hope she gets better soon. x

My mare had it too. Used to put her out in fly rug and she was fine. Only use to get them in summer and when she had been worked hard. Think it could have been heat rash, especially as she was a warmblood

My mare has an attack of the bumps every summer not sure what causes it. In the past the vet has put it down to either she has rolled in nettles or a heat rash, the vet normally just gives her a antihistamine injection which works with a day and i wash her off with diluted hippi scrub for a few days to stop any bumps turning nasty. Have tried fly rugs etc but they rub her shoulders badly and her mane falls out.

Dont worry too much they all have this rash for some reason my TB came up the field the other day with it and so did my friends horse who is going to HOYS in october. It just some sort of chemical thing that is in the air i have been told it will go soon enough
