I went to a horse auction in Taunton last night - and came away with nothing! My secret - don't register to bid and don't stand next to friends who can bid for you! I did have withdrawal symptoms this morning - there were some very nice youngsters there - did I miss an opportunity?
How do others avoid buying? Or are you a committed buyer and can't avoid it?

Haha. I take my mum! She refuses to buy things unless they are truelly outstanding. If it wasnt for her we would have far more than 3 horses!

hehe! well im very fussy as i want a pure arab and you will never get a good quility arab going through...
but took geoff (OH) to exeter and he fell in love, with 2 freisen horses both 1/2 brothers, and they were gorgeous and i really had to hold geoff back, he had his card out ready to pay! even tho there wasnt enough money in there for them as they got up to 2grand and didnt sell!....
but yeah take no money!

Equinim Yes I noticed the old mare - I thought it very unkind of the owner to put her through such an experience. I liked a chestnut miniature Shetland and a grey yearling section A colt with two blue eyes.

Several years ago a friend picked up a fabulous 4 year old Arab mare, chestnut in colour, at the Exeter auctions. She had fabulous breeding - Crabbet. The mare was there as the result of dissolving a partnership. Sometimes you can be lucky.

the owner of the chestnut and the one with blue eyes.was a bit of a ####. the old mare was really sad we rescue veterans and id have loved to rescue her but her price went over our budget. we just got 2 old shetlands from n wales. really sweet
