Hi,
I am amazed how much ragwort there is around again this year, its getting worse every year, but i can not believe how many ponies are turned out in fields with this deadly weed in there paddocks. How do these owners sleep at night?

I read somewhere that 6,000+ horses and ponies a year die from Ragwort poising. We need to remind our local councils that they too have a duty of care to control this deadly weed, because while so much is left to seed alongside roads and open spaces we are fighting a loosing battle to control it.
I live near to the sea and it grows all over the sand banks, with the seeds being blown inland on the wind on to our fields. The toxins can even affect the livers of humans if they touch it and then ingest them from their hands. Children play all over the sand banks in the summer, digging and building sand castles.
