I have a 18 year old anglo arab. We have a had him since he was 5. He has hunted every season since then. The past 3 seasons he has feild mastered. He has some of the summer off and the spends the rest doing some showjumping, hunter trials and pony club. He isnt fed during the summer, in the winter he lives on haylage, corn, bran mixture and some high calory mixes. He is a real part of the family and Mum always says that they are growing old together. This is him a month ago.

well my boy is 17years i got him when he was 9years and he actually looked old back them he was mistreated... this was last year at the arab nationals huge differance... well loads of people and judges are always so surpised to hear his a vetreian, even a few think hes a young stallion, i mean judges too... when michel harris 1st saw my boy he thought he was 6years and a stallion, and he breeds arabs freddie used to do showjumping and XC but after a nasty fall we had he really lost conferance, so now he does unaffiliated dressage always hitting over 58%, used to do ridden showing but he got bored and now concertrating on affiliated showing inhand... oh and hacking anything from 1/2 hr to 4hrs! he live in everynight, as he doesnt like staying out at night, out during the day. hes fed... hay, mollie chaff EXTRA, bran and d&h build up freddie lives a very spoilt life... after havin such a hard time before!.

I have Pendock Prunus - Welsh B stallion - who is 27 yrs old. Not fathered anything recently but he just loves his stable and watching all his offspring out in the field. I also still have my first ponies I bought for my children - Biscuit and her daughter Kookie [who arrived as a suprise 8 months after I bought her mum !!!] They are unregistered shetlands that live with my friend Tracey and enjoy a life of pony club and gentle hacks around Poltimore on the lead rein with the occassional showing class thrown in. My own children are 24 & 23 now and Biscuit must be nearly 30!

Hi, I still have my 14.2hh working hunter pony that is 37 years old now. Chantilly is still active and still gallops with the best of them. Not been ridden for 2 years, but still gets excited when she sees the lorry returning from a show, with her adopted family on Chance ID 15 years old and my 2year old ID. Hope to show her again this season. She is spoilt rotten and knows it.
We had my first pony until he was 36 years old and then sadly he had a stroke and had to be put down.
I pride myself that I must feed them right for them to last. Dobson and Horrell 16+ with pasture nuts soaked, fed in 3 feeds plus adlib hay. Teeth checked every 6 months.
Good luck

I have my daughter's first pony still at home - we just couldn't part with him. He's a section A Leigh Holt Mathwyn or Magic. Brilliant lead rein pony in his time, a horror off the lead rein until my daughter got the measure of him! Then later went on to win first pony classes etc - but he really wasn't a 'first pony' at all - funny this showing! We bought him as a five year old he's 25 now.
