Hiya everyone.. I went to a show yesterday and despite scrubbing, washing, blue rinsing, wet talc wraps, and chalk powder my mares back feathers were still yellow.. and I know these hairys can have white feathers as i saw loads of people poncing about with gleaming white fluffy feathers. I have tried everything I can think of... PLEASE PEOPLE any suggestions? xxx

try what the shire breders do wash in green fairy. find where to buy white pine sawdust (only pine works) dry legs with the sawdust after washing. stable on white shavings or wrap legs in boots
we used this when we had our clydesdale. go on heavy horse site and email for where to get shavings locally

have you tryed that white and bright shampoo i told you about? you know the purple one...
that worked with my friends dirty dirty feathers on her cob and they were CAKED in mud and came up gleaming...
we did use neet and washed twice but once you did the 1st time like that you just use it neet afterwards just once! works wonders...

Ive tried Talc and it didnt work.. But havent used that White and Bright shampoo, yet.. I do however have quite a collection of whitening shampoos piling up!
Someone else at the show advised me to use pine sawdust too.. I shall have to try it. I will take a photo and post it up on here to show you just how stained these feathers are!!

Well, Considering she was the most yellow cob there, we did well! It was a CHAPS & PUK Qualifying classes so of course they were packed! We waited a good 2-3hours for my classes, Inhand she came 6th out of 23 being the highest placed traditional in the line up, and we would of qualified for CHAPS if I were a member. In the ridden there was 19 in the class which took a good 1.5 - 2 hours! I was baked by this point and Tilly was tired and lazy (next time I will be wearing spurs!) but did a nice show until we hopped onto the wrong leg! so we got placed about 9th.. But im very pleased with her shes come a long way.
