Tiger, the new arrival, has come with some rather smelly & yucky mud fever around his fetlocks and up his hind legs , it was so bad he actually went lame. We are finally getting rid of the scrabs but his is left with very red & cracked skin around his fetlocks. Has any one got any suggestions on what to use to help heal the skin?

Mine have got it too! I've washed them with hibiscrub then put uddercream on them! So far, so good. The ones on paper bedding don't have it as bad as the ones on Nedz Bedz so perhaps the excess moisture is absorbed more with paper. They are always wiped with towels when they come in as I was told that hosing them everytime was making them even wetter but not sure about that theory.
Mine have never had it before this year so any other suggestions would be most welcome.

udder cream is good, protocon is also worth a try, once you've washed the scabs off if he will let you dry his legs with a hair dryer!!!!

Thanks for advise, have been using Hibiscrub daily to remove the scrabs and then towel drying off. Usually use nappy rash cream, can't remember proper name for it, to prevent mud fever once it's all gone, acts as a barrier. Managing to prevent it in my other two, fingers crossed but i'm hearing that lots of horses are suffering this year.

Thanks, i have found a product which removes the scabs without having to wash or pick them off and it also encourages the hair to grow back. Been using it for one week and although his legs still look yuck the scabs have gone from his legs and are slowly clearing up from his heels. Still hoping to take him to the show in February although he has got quite a lot of hair missing off his hind legs!!!
