hi all, i have a new boy that im going to do some showing with, ive jsut had a look at the schedual.
right for the questions, first of all. im looking at doing ring 1, classes, riding horse, competiton horse, and coloured.
what is the correct turnout for me? (i was thinking black trousers, black jacket white shirt, is this ok?)
and for the horses, am i right in thinking that plaited is correct (hes a irish sport horse.)
and for him, can i show in a hunter type snaffle bridle, or do i need an inhand bridle/double bridle?
last question,
this isnt as iffy as it sounds.. he doesnt have hes original passport, (ive bought off a trader) hes currently registered with the pleasure horse society, BUT i can get hes original passport that has him registered as an ish,
does he need to be breed registered as anything for the classes i want to do? ( i may or may not have orig passport by the 7th.)
many thanks for the help, im 100% dont have a clue about this level of showing.
janine.,

For inhand if he has dark legs wearing some light coloured trousers would be better as then you can see his movement better or if he has light legs (such as grey) then black trousers sould be fine . A jacket if your showing him as a hunter or a riding horse sould traditionally be tweed (but its up to you if you wish to show in black). He does need to be plaited as it looks better . If he is a youngster show in a snaffle bridle (inhand bridle) or if he is older than showing in a double is good but you can also show in a inhand bridle to with a snaffle Also if your showing him as a riding horse they should traditionaly be show with a pretty browband or if a hunter a plain bridle. As for the other question im not totally sure hope it helps and i hope i got everthing right haha Jess xx

fab thanks. hes 9 so not a baby, have a double, for the riding horse, is a show type bridle (ie not flat hunter nose band) better? i have showing browband so no issue there.
hes got white legs, so the black should be ok,
thank you for the reply!

With reference to registration you need to understand the difference between classes that are a "type" and those where you are showing the equine as a particular "breed".
Riding horse and Competition Horse/Pony are "types" and as such you would not need his original Irish Sports Horse registration. Coloured is also a "type" and contains horses and ponies of various breeds, but some shows [not ours I hasten to add] might require you to be registered with one of the coloured societies [CHAPS & BPSA] before you can take part in the classes. This is mainly at County level, and can also be the same for Riding Horses [BSHCRH]
Do try and get the original registration papers though! As time passes it is harder to trace them back and it puts a higher value on any equine to have the correct paperwork.

im on it as we speak, as if he does well i will register him with chaps, he currently needs some weight on and muscel and schooling, the outing is more for him, to see hes behaviour, and to get some useful feed back, thinking about him, im not sure hes not to chunky for riding horse, but will see nearer to the time.
i do have hes sires name, its just a hoping that the previous owner (from before the dealer) can get hes orig passport.
i didnt think i needed hes original registration details for the above classes, but wanted to double check!
thanks for all the help.

Doesnt have to be a flat noseband but they do look better. If your planning on riding him tho canary yellow or beige jods like jacob said a picture would be better to go on . Jess xx
