any one got any ideas???
he is a sweetie in walk and trot but ask for canter and he just bucks...
was broken last year as a late 5-6 yr old had back teeth saddle etc all checked and they are fine
he can run into canter when out with another horse but will not canter whilst ridden in the school.
will lunge with saddle on and off in canter
anyone got any tips? hes a bit big for me and i have difficulty in pulling his head up in time...
ridden in cavesson bridle with loose ring french snaffle and saddle- nothing else!
has thrown at least 7 or 8 other people off so its not just my riding!!
all suggestions welcome!! thanks!

Bliss used to buck as it was a balance thing, it just took time and patience and a good seat!!! Just double check everything like scottie 1 said.

Tiger started bucking in our first lesson although he had have never bucked before, had his saddle checked and although not causing a serious problem, my saddler noticed he was sore with an old injury/damage at the back of where the saddle was. Got my chiropractor out to him and she confirmed he was extremely sore in his back. Since then i've bought a new saddle and we had our second lesson and no bucking, a much happier horse. I would recommend getting a back person out to him, i know it's not cheap but money worth spent.

hehe! weve had everyone out to him! but yesterday my new instructor came out and rode him.. hes just being really naughty and i cant sit his bucks! he is goin off to be schooled for 2 weeks by this lady! hopefully this will 'cure' him.. he did look lovely once he was actually going! its just it was too much hard work for him and his buck was him resisting me telling him what to do! hopefully things will all be sorted when he comes home. at least we have got to the bottom of this and can hopefully be solved!! unfortunately he is a very big 16.1hh and is too big for me really... so if anyone wants to buy a 16.1 gelding!

you said he is good being lunged and not when ridden, just an idea: could you get some one to lunge him whilst your riding him? to see whether it is naughtyness and see if he stops bucking when under more controll?

we tried! he just doesnt respect me coz im small and he knows that i wont bully him past him resisting. as soon as the instructor got on him and pushed him on and he realised that she wasnt comin off and that he HAD to work he became submissive!!

Maybe concentrate on hacking as alot of schooling can be done when out on the roads. I would get your instructor to school him on until he is a bit more experienced. If you enjoy the hacking give the schooling a break for a bit as it won't hurt.

hehe! yes i hate schooling at the best of times but had convinced myself before i bought him that to do eventing i would have to start to love schooling.. so was prepared for some!
but quite frankly i didnt pay money to have to teach my horse to canter in the school...
