This was posted on another forum but thought it may be relevant to people on here as I know lots of you live in Somerset. Vanessa
As the title suggests this thread is about Berrow beach in somerset - not sure if any of you use this beach for riding but it is the only place in Somerset that is close enough to box to for horse riding. Up until know we have always been able to park on the beach for a small fee. The beach is beautiful and has about 6 miles of golden sand.
Anyway the bad news is I have just found out from Sedgemoor District and Berrow Parish Council that they will be closing the beach car park this winter, effectively removing any parking facilities for horseboxes. They will be locking the gates to the car park to stop joy riders abusing the beach. This means that unless u live within hacking distance of the beach (which mosat people who use the beach dont!) you wont be able to ride on Berrow through the winter as there will be nowhere to park a horsebox!
Does this affect anyone else out there? The Council have said any protests must be lodged with Berrow Parish Council althougt I have also written a letter of complaint to the MP for Sedgemoor area.
Apologies for those not in Somerset or surrounding areas but trying to rally support to demonstrate to the Council that a large number of horse riders will be affected by the closure.

I have in the past been up to Weston beach to ride but never Brean / Berrow and it was a while ago, as i'm only in Bristol. It would be a shame for it to stop though, will look into it myself!!!
