does anybody know if a neule shule hanging cheek baucher is the best type of bit to use on a pony that insists on going with its nose in the air (perhaps it thinks its a snob!!)
the person whom we bought the horse from reccomended the bit, but as they are expensive to buy i want to be sure.
we are in the process of riding in a harbridge and lunging in side reins to see if that will improve his head carridge, he had apparently had his teeth done before we tried him, i really don't remember him going along with his nose poked in the air when we tried him.

it may be his back. if you try and pull his nose in he may pull against you and make matters worse. hanging bits tend to lift the head as well as bring it in. they will flex the poll but only if the horse isnt really tense i'd get his back and teeth checked out first and if given the ok start lunging him in a long low outline , try a bungie from the girth through the bit to the saddle. so he works in a nice outline then ride him with the bungie on. good luck

Thanks, I have a new saddle on order, found out today it will be another 2weeks, teeth was supposed to have been done-perhaps not!!
Although thinking about his behaviour he does tend to swing around to the girth when tacked up, so we have had a saddle on him as little as possible untill his one arrives, then we know it's not that
