Could you please tell me if the Wikie snaffle bits are allowed for the novice whp classes. Gets a bit confusing as every organisation has their own rules. Know it is now permitted by NPS. It will mean the difference between doing the whp or not! (oh- did try using the link on the website - but link broken!)

SWPA does not recognise a Wilkie as a snaffle. A snaffle action is a simple "nutcracker" action in the mouth. Because a Wilkie has two fixed points of connections on the ring it therefore has both a nutcracker action AND a poll action lowering the head.
At SWPA you may not wear a Wilkie snaffle in any class described a "novice" - so it can be worn in an open class. Where the class is an NPS or any other affiliated society class then their rules over-ride ours and you can wear them.
It is up to all competitors to familiarise themselves with the rules of the various associations under which they are competing.

Yes, so long as there is no fixing points for the reins or cheek pieces - which there should not be in a "loose ring" snaffle
