For SHP in hand:
Pelham with double reins and plain browband?
For PB in hand:
coloured browband? Is it OK to have a wilkie (only because thats what I have) on a coupling or should I go for a plain bit or pelham again?
Can anyone recommend a good guide to SHP showing in hand and lead rein?

I wrote a booklet on these sorts of questions several years ago. I will have a look and see if I have any left.
You don't need a coloured browband for hunter pony breeding or show hunter pony classes. In the part bred class you would be assumed to be a riding pony if you had a coloured browband.
The bit should be a simple snaffle that is descrete and not overpowering on the head for showing inhand. You would normally show a brood mare in a complete double/pelham bridle, all others you would have the snaffle on an inhand bridle with a single lead rein attached to it. If your pony is over 4 yrs then you coukd use the pelham rather than go to any expence.
You could also use a Wilkie, but just be aware SWPA does not class a Wilkie as a snaffle so it is not allowed in our novice, lead rein or first ridden classes under our rules. If you enter a PUK or NPS class at our shows then you can use it as their rules will over-ride ours.
Hope this helps
