Medwin, it has been a few years since we did the Champs with you. Could you remind me how it runs again? If I remember correctly Sunday is the actual Championship classes, which you have got to qualify for. I know you can qualify that weekend as well as at the summer show, but which day? just wanting to check as the Section A has qualified for two classes - same number as the D, so MAY take her instead to give Jessica a 'rest', but a long way to go for 'just' two classes on a stroppy chestnut mare! ;D

No it has changed over the past few years.
Fridays classes are a complete show with a supreme at the end of the day. Most of the classes are last minute qualifiers for 2009. Sat and Sun run the champs classes with the Light horse classes on Saturday hunter, RH Coloured, veteran etc then Sunday are the M&M , SP and Hunter pony breeding. Some Saturday classes are last minute qualifiers for 2009, but Sunday classes are 2010 qualifiers.
Does that help?

Yes, thanks for that. Had a change of circumstances anyway as had the McTimothy person out for Jessica today and she won't be going to WSM! So planning to take the section A and hopefully qualify her for some more classes so we can take her to the champs instead! With regards to the qualifiers: She qualified on Sunday for the M&M ridden, is this the same as the 'showing gems' mentioned in the summer show?? Also the star for the future thing, is that the combination that qualifys or the rider - cos if combination I will need another card

Yes, Showing Gems is now or sponsor for the M&M ridden and Inhand championships [for which we are very grateful]
The card for The Star For The Future goes with individual ponies/horses, so if it is another pony then she needs another card.

Sorry to be a pain Medwin, but read somewhere that if you take a qualifyer card when you have already qualified they are both invalid - so want to be sure! (she is only 10 - and likely to take the card if in any doubt!) Emily qualified Sarum Jessica at Blackdown Hill RC show in the M&M ridden and in-hand (well - actually I did all the runing!). We sent the cards back to you - you should have had them by now! but they are the SAME as the showing gems M&M ridden championship, right? (NPS open classes are qualifiers for this), so the 'only' card she is going to need is the M&M junior ridden and possibly the M&M novice ridden?? Does any of it even make sense? ? ;D

Yes it does - and yes it is writtem in our rules "that you may only qualify once for any championship and taking a second card MAY invalidate the first".
I have never taken a qualification from anyone BUT I have also had people send me up to 12 cards for the one Championship. That means 11 people who could have qualified did not! 7 - 8 is an average!
SWPA aims to promote the more friendly side of showing - enough said!

Wow, 7-8 as an average!!! That was really why I was asking, firstly because I didn't want her qualifyer to be invalid (couldn't remember where I saw it) and secondly because of course we want as many people to qualify as possible. Not much point in entering a championship class with just a few people who have qualified a lot!! ;D We will see you on the 19th then- please could you bring a 'star for the future' card for Emily as we have to start over again ;D
