In the pairs class then you need to find a similar pony/horse to your own and then ride a show togther.
"Simple" I can hear people saying! Well, it takes a good pairing to stay together, change pace at the same time, go round corners and stay together and complete the show. Reece and Stephs did it once [aged about 8 & 10] and landed up with Stephs screaming at Reece..."wait for me you b88888....." right in front of the judge! Mind there was lots of things they could not do without having a screaming match at that age! One good pairing used to be the Webber twins - Richard and Robert - you could not get any similar than those two!
The other one is adult and child where there must be at least a 10 yrs age gap and the horses/ponies do not need to be the same size, but look similar and must ride their show as a pair.

It never comes out until the last registrations are in - that is early August. We don't think it is fair that those who qualify at a show in August the previous year have to register just two weeks after their show, not knowing what the schedule/judges are, and those who qualify in July do.
Also there is a large number of people who hang on to their qualifications and try to register when they see the schedule. I estimate the sort of numbers involved could be about 25% of the total yearly registrations. I cannot cope with that huge influx of registrations [remember Richard and I both work full time] just before the Championships, and I am/have been very firm in refusing them so everyone is in the same situation.
