How very, very sad. Anne had been a member of SWPA since we started and carried the registration number of 8. She had supported the work of SWPA every year and had offered to allow us to use her grounds for shows or teach-ins every year.
When Anne was competing regularly, and enjoyed better health, she used to run the Berry Barton Shetland shows at her farm near Branscombe, and I have china shetland models and dishes that were given to winners to remind us of those wonderful fun shows that were so friendly, and yet competitive. The home-made cakes stall was my first stop, before anyone else bought all the fruit cake. Affiliated to the SPSB the day would always end with gymkhana games and a glass of wine shared with friends.
We also had the pleasure of breaking some of Anne's Littlecombe shetlands and they all went on to be excellent performance ponies that were regulars out on the circuit and still are. Littlecombe ponies are bred for quality and temperament, and whilst Anne has not been able to get to shows in the last few years, her ponies will perpetuate her memory for many years to come.

Many years ago when I ran The Breamore Show, here in Hampshire, Ann would come all the way from her home in the West to stay for the weekend and compete at Breamore. She stayed at Marsh Holding, camping in the yard with the old stables for her ponies and she used to give us a lovely bottle of wine for the privilege. We were always so pleased to see her and her lovely ponies and felt that she added another dimension to what was essentially, in those days, a Village Show in the old fashioned sense. We shall miss her very much even though since The Breamore Show closed, we have had very little contact with her. RIP Anne - you meant a lot to us.
