I have just been onto Redwings Horse Sanctuary to see what help they need with the awful situation that was reported today www.redwings.org.uk/newsrescue86.htm for story. They are grateful for donations, or if anyone lives in the area I hear they are looking for space to stable some of those that survived.

Why o why is this sort of thing happening? This man has been reported numerous times for his horses and dogs and nothing has been done. Do you know 1/2 of these horses were microchipped, they were someones loved animal once, we have over 40 ponies here, and that is why they stay here, we are just too worried to sell, and subject them to people like this man, who has abused and neglected them, he should be locked up, starved, and not allowed comfort and water. Thank God my ponies tonight have a good bed , water and food, and always will have.

absolutely disgusting and i cannot understand why nothing was done earlier.and if he was breeding for meat what good would they have been anyway in that condition, i always worry when we sell any of ours but we cant keep them all you just gotta try and find a good home which can be very difficult these days.

if you would like info on donations to the charaties for the care of these horses or more information look on horse and hound forum in latest news.many of the people on there live very close to the farm, the bloke has been reported so many times and is well known to the rspca and the police so why the hell did it take so long to be sorted, the total count of live horses is 111 and 34 dead, some of the rescued in cluded a number of youngsters a blind mare an 8wk donkey foal and it has also been found that one rescued donkey is in foal. please if anyone has any spare rugs or money or anything please send to one of the charatied involved but remember to giftaid money. i will be sending some money to the horse trust who have taken in 30+ of the worst cases.

Am I the only one woh wonders why I bother getting my horses either freezemarked or micro chipped? I was under the impression that if the horses were "marked" in some way, they could not be sold without the appropriate paperwork. Yet, if you look on the websites for stolen horses, the majority of them are either freezemarked or microchipped. I understand a number of these poor souls were marked and stolen. So what is going wrong. Just how do we protect our animals to stop them ending up in these peoples hands?

i remember being told by the ilph that the only garentee against theft is hoof branding cos freeze brands can be dyed but they have to wait 6 months for hoof brands to grow out

more dead horses have been found and the sicko has been seen to run horses over in 4x4 and quad, he also dragged a number tied to back of pick up not stopping for the one that fell to the ground,
