We're tiny, just four ponies! Lots of luck to you Tessa, I'm sure you'll have a good season. See you at the shows!

What is "professional"? The only difference is that they get paid to produce other people's ponies - there are many who can turn out to the same standard, but do it for themselves.

You will be fine Tess if you and the pony are smart and the pony goes well you have just as much chance as the rest of us - you havn't seen my shettie yet he looks like a yettie bless him but we will bring him out to have some fun which is what it is all about in reality - as long as you are pleased with what goes in your lorry or trailer to go home thats all that matters in the end.

Kitty hope to see you at the shows as well hopefully. I understand what your all saying as for turn out I like to be comfortable, take my example of smart from racing trainers.

Tessa, all through my showing life, I've always "done it for fun" and then last year, I bought a little black Shetland stallion who had been really badly treated by someone in his past. We took him showing after we all, including Chris, put a lot of work into him. He repaid us in spades and gave us a wonderful season culminating in Supreme Champion at the SWPA Champs last year. What I'm trying to tell you is that even people like us who are hobby producers and exhibitors can sometimes "crack the nut" and get to the top. Enjoy trying - have a great year!

i remember going to the crabbet show a couple of years ago and ME an AMETURE! was put down becuase the judges thought i was a "pro" and huge a pro handler was also put down, but i (like alot of others) put so meny hours into training with freddie and getting myself right, i always get my mum to watch me pratice and ask her how i can improve, also as soon as i get out of the ring my mum says either "well done you both showed off well" or "that was c**p and you need to do this.... and that" its good to have someone on the outside watching to comment on because you cant see for yourself how you are going. and showing is a team effort both you and the horse.... but pratice make perfect, and everyone started at the bottom and worked their way up to the top even the pro show jumpers, eventers, dressage riders, jockies ect...
