We need your help to run the shows - the small committee cannot do it all by themselves its just totally impossible - we were all so stressed out last year and after all we do it for you the members (none of us get paid you know). Please volunteer to help out even for a couple of hours at a show - you can even get points towards free classes as well as learning from judges and perhaps getting an idea of what the judge is looking for which could be valuable information for the future. I know you are all busy people but so are we and its not just what happens on show days there is a massive amount of work that goes on behind the scenes all year round that none you know about and its done mostly by Medwin and Richard - it was the 10th anniversary last year for SWPA - lets help make the 11th year a better one for everyone by all giving a little back to the people who have given so much over the last 10 years. We hold shows in Exeter,Okehampton and David Broomes in Crick Wales so plenty of scope for you to help wherever you may be and you will also get fed which is a bonus - also we want some more volunteers to help with car parking etc as well at some venues (bored dads perhaps) no experience in necessary and if I get enough interest from the boards I have posted on I will hold a stewards training day nr Exeter so you all know what you are doing. Pm me if you are interested or have any other ideas how we can get more help - also what about your local show holding qualifiers - get them to send the schedule to Medwin and she will send out an affiliation pack (its free) all they have to do is hand out the cards that will be sent before the show - its easy and will attract more people to the show - ring the secretary now and persuade them to join us. Vanessa

Hi Charlie
How could anyone be better than you our star steward - not sure what we would have done without you and your dad last year. Very grateful and know you and your dad and jess will help out but just trying to avoid the same few being stuck in the ring all day again this year. Will you be coming to the worker show?? Vanessa

Marian is a real help you lot come and join her - she was a bit worried about doing it but now does some at every show and she also has her own ponies to do as well so it can be done. Would just be nice to see some new volunteers. Vanessa

Chris and I are always there to help, me as Julie's apprentice ( - another 10 years and I might just learn it all) and Chris is happiest doing the donkey work in the WHP! I'm a bit reluctant to steward, after a rough day with a rude judge who was annoyed at having a novice steward in the ring with him. I think a days training would be a good idea Vanessa, as it would help to stop this happening and might even get my pony-phobic daughter stewarding, which will give you another helper and get her more interested in the shows

She is welcome to come and help me at any of the shows - us oldies are always grateful for young helpers - was the rude judge at our show?? I only once had a bad judge and she was just plain rude insisted on calling me steward all day instead of my name - she was not invited to judge again SWPA thinks stewards are as important as judges - can't run the show without either
