How does this series work?
Does it work on a league points table or do you just need to qualify for the final at a show like SWPA?

I presume you mean "Star for the Future" competition. The idea is to encourage novices and people new to showing to enter the open classes and within those open classes gain qualification for a whole series - Star for the Future. The judge is asked to look at all those competitors wear a white armband and consider the one they think is most likely to be "a star in the future" even though they could be at the end of the line because they have been not up to the quality of the ones above on the day. As a competitor you then have up to the Champsionships to work on improvements that a judge may/may not offer and you get a chance to ride in the evening performance IF you win your class/section. All you need to do is make yourself a white armband and collect a card from the secretary's desk and get it signed by the judge in the ring. You can qualify in several different sections e.g. hunter pony and competition pony; hack and riding horse and hunter; SHP LR and M&M LR etc. These classes are only at SWPA shows, not shows affiliated to SWPA. Hope that helps.

Yes all the first placed prize winners go into the main ring, under a new judge, and that judge will then pick the one she most considers to be her "Star for the Future". So get your evening gear ready

You don't have to win an "open" class to get into the star for the future - in fact you could be last in the class, but if the judge thinks your a star he will sign your card. So go on have a go - you might suprise yourself!
