I cannot see Rare Breeds sitting with part breds. Part breds will be a huge remit to cover and we will really have to think about the classes from lead rein show and pony hunter types up to the over 148 as part breds cover the whole spectrum and this will also include coloureds and competition types. With riddens and in hands to cater for, careful planning to keep within a time table to cover the range of classes will be of the essence. We will have a fresh batch of judges for this remit and over the next few weeks we will be liaising with SWPA for initial thoughts. If anyone has any ideas, please do post them. Veterans...............we could think of having a GWYNBETH2011 CHAMPION VETERAN and they could have their own section.........will think on it and it may be feasible if space is available on the Friday and we can get Sponsorship. We will keep you updated

Would you please add any comments or ideas to this thread regarding Gwynbeth 2011 - thus far GwynBeth 2011 willl be part-breads - classes to firm Do we have a GwynBeth2011 champion Veteran? This would recognise and value our Veterans? this would be a seperate section. Cash will not be handed out in the ring only envelopes with slips and monies can be collected on the night or next day Time Table approximately the same as 2010 Do we have previous winners class again - for past 2008/2010 entrants who reached phase 3? -

SWPA have been asked to run area qualifers for Olympia veterans next year. I think we are doing them at every show and have asked to be considered for a regional final at the Champs. [Any words of support in that direction might sway the decision guys - direct them to the appropriate people at veteranhorseshowing@fsmail.net ] ;D

We are now ready to start updating with where, when and how the GwynBeth2011 will run this year. There will be 2 Champions this year, the GwynBeth Champion (part bred) and the GwynBeth Champion (Veteran). We really felt it important to recognise the Veterans and ensure they had a special moment under the floodlights. The classes for them will be the same as the Veteran Horse Society but Competitors do not need to be registered with them to enter. It will be for part breds young stock, in hand and riddens. Some part-breds are registered with showing societies and some are not. All will be catered for from show ponies lead reins to Hunters. Richard Broad is working on the detail after we sent him listings of the Classes we hoped for, but obviously there may be changes. Show Ponies and Show Hunter types etc., will be in the height groups and we have tried to keep the height ranges for the horses as well i.e small and large Hacks, Hunter weights, etc. The Coloured horses and ponies will be the usual criteria Traditionals etc., and Plaited etc., Competition types, etc., will be catered for a well. Competitors will have a range of classes to enter in Ridden and in-hand. We are always delighted to welcome the Young Stock.

Just for clarity the two GwynBeth Champions - Veteran and Part bred will not be going head to head . the Veteran finalists, in phase 3, will be judged before the part bred phase 3 championship. As the schedule and time tables are firmed all will become clear but please do ask on this thread or pm if you have any questions or queries.

The veteransl, of course, can be of any Breed, part-bred or type not just part-bred. I hope this clarifies the criteria. this is going to be a very special part of the GwynBeth and do please offer to sponsor if you wish. Sponsoring does not mean you cannot enter the class for we, at GwynBeth, actively encourage partnership working because our cireria is open and transparent.

I have heard from Richard at SWPA and Medwin will be returning 18 March and we will be meeting up asap after that date. We are already being asked for entry forms and these will be available once the classes have been finalised but I think it is fair to assume the day will run as per 2010 with the classes shown in the schedule being renamed, etc., I am sure the timings will for the three phases will run as near to the 2010 timings as possible but as soon as we know you will be updated. Entry fees etc., will also be posted. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
