Brilliant idea Karen - thats one for the newsletter.
We never plan that everyone does ALL the classes they COULD do at our shows. Rather they can plan a day to get the qualifications they want or plan their day to enjoy competing in one or two classes. We say "enter the classes that you really want to do and if you can do any extras then enter on the day". That way you can judge how the classes are running so they don't clash.
Sadly it has become human nature to take and not give back any more. Marion I am with you on your statement, and recently have had to endure some elements of total rudeness and inconsideration for others. As the older generation we both grew up knowing that after the war everyone struggled to rebuild normal life, and had to "make do" with whatever was available to us. We all grew up learning that we shared what we had and worked together for what we wanted. Sadly that is not the way it is now and people EXPECT things to happen without thinking how it is achieved, and without recognising the hard work of the minority and showing their appreciation for that.

Loll.............. Marion..You are a very happy little steward with vast experience and i would dare anyone to be rude to you ha ha
I think what really seems to make people get hot under the collar is when classes are held for any lengh of time for other competitors in other rings.....this isnt directed at SWPA but in general I do think some competitors expect too much by entering classes they know will prob clash but do it any way and then the show organisers are left to keep everyone happy whilst rings are held up waiting for them. So maybe what is required to improve things is a little more forward planning from us the competitors and that includes looking at championships that clash....

I agree with previous comments, you can't please everybody, all you can do is to take on board constructive comments perhaps ones that have been made several times by different people. I know of several shows which have a policy that if a competitor shows bad manners or language to a steward or judge they are banned for any future shows held by that organisation.

No one but NO ONE is rude to me when i am stewarding. Its might be the judges decision of who or what wins the class, but as far as im concerned it is MY ring. What I say goes. The security, safety and pleasure of the other competitors mean if I WANT to oof someone out. . . . I will - Mo.
p.s. Ask some of the kids at Parc Howard ! ! ! ! !
But think Karen has great idea. If the parents are at SWPA ALL day, surely they can fit a bit of stewarding in, even if its only 1 class
